Building a new beginning for the next generation of leaders.
We believe that every child and family deserves a chance to succeed. That’s why we are working hard to create a safe, secure space within the community where at-risk children and families can access the resources they need to flourish.
Donate NowWe’re building a safe resource for our community.

As a past student to the Shawtown Community, I am happy to see that the alumni are giving back to help provide resources so that the young people that live in that area can be involved in social and skill-building activities.

We strive to create a space that allows at-risk families to receive tutoring assistance, skill building training, career orientation, entrepreneurial access, on-site health and dental screening, peer group support, debate skills, anger redirection, healthy nutrition choices, law enforcement partnerships, mentorship, non-traditional career choices, and specific needs referrals assistance. By doing so we hope to foster a strong sense of solidarity among the Shawtown community and to create a better future for generations to come.

Shawtown High School contributed a lot; it was a No. 1 school. The school has been a shining star for the black community in this area.

Food & Clothing
We hope to provide meals and seasonal-appropriate clothing to children, families and individuals in need of help.

Job Application Training
Our goal is to assist with job application training for individuals who are unemployed and underemployed.

Senior Activities
We will offer a wide range of activities to ensure seniors have opportunities to stay active, socialize and engage with others in the community.

Our community needs this facility badly. A resource center would best serve the community, as well as providing much needed and valuable information in aiding our young boys and girls in making life changing and productive choices and careers.

Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends,
On behalf of the Shawtown High School Alumni Association, I am writing to you today to ask for your help in our mission to create a safe and secure environment for children, adults, and families. We believe that by constructing this safe space, we will be able to foster a strong sense of solidarity throughout the county while also creating better futures for generations to come.
We need your help to make this dream a reality. Your generous donations will directly go towards helping us build our Community Resource Center building and its supporting infrastructure. With your help, we’ll be able to make a lasting impact in the lives of the people in our wonderful communities by providing them with greater access to education and resources that will benefit them both now and in the future.
Thank you for your time and your generous contributions. We look forward to welcoming you to our new Community Resource Center at Tiger Field!
Sincerely,

Walter J. Covington, Sr.
President
Shawtown High School Alumni Association

The building will give us, and those who follow, pride in having a place to call home. We’ll have a building where learning takes place, where we can have alumni meetings, tutor our youth, and rebuild the connections that the Shawtown Community once had.
